There was a time in time in England when postage rates (3) were very high , Only rates for newspapers were low . People who had little money but a lot of time sent letters to their friends with newspapers .They made very small pin-pricks (4) under letters and wrote large letters in this way Soldiers often used this kind of letter, too, to let their families know where they were. A soldier sent home a map with a pin-prick atthe place of his dislocation. Their (1) mothers or wives beld up those maps to the light and saw where the pin-prick was. The system was not very quickly. I had an aspirin, some nose drops and some cough syrup. I gave my medicine to the soldier. " If you don't have the plague, my medicine will help you. You must stay in bed and drink a lot of water, " I said to him. Two days later the soldier was better. It wasn't the plague. It was flu. But when I told him about it, he didn,t believe me. "You have some secret medicine and you can cure any disease," he said. " I must go back to London tomorrow. If you come with me, I'll do anything for you." The soldier and I went to London.
