London
London is the capital of Great Britain It lies on the both banks of the river Thames. London is one of the largest cities in the world. It is important industrial, political, economic and cultural centre of Great Britain.

London consists of four parts which are known as the City, the Port, the West End and the East End. The City is the heart of financial and business life of the country. It contains almost all important English banks and offices, headquarters of companies and corporations.

The West End of London is famous for its beautiful monuments and places, fine parks, fashionable shops and big hotels. The East End is quite different from the West End. It is the district of factories, plants and docks.

There are many places of interest in London. One of them is Trafalgar Square with Nelson`s Column. North of Nelson`s Column the National Gallery is situated. It houses a rich collection of paintings of different European schools.

In the West End of London there are a lot of places of interest. The Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British government, is one of them. It is also famous by its tower clock - Big Ban which is the best known clock in England. Close to the Houses of Parliament one can see the Westminster Abbey. This is the place of coronation of English Kings and Queens. It is also a memorial of famous people.

The Tower of London is the next interesting historical place. It was a fortress, a royal residence, a prison, now it is a museum. London has a great number of museums. The famous British Museum, one of the best museums in the world, is known by its library.

There are a lot of parks in British capital. Hyde Park is the most popular of them.

1 London is the capital of Great Britain. It lies in the South East of England on both banks of the river Thames. London is one of the largest cities in the largest port and industrial centre in England. London is more than twenty centuries old.

2 The heart of the capital is the City. The territory of the City is only about one square mile, but it is the financial and business centre of the country. It contains almost all important English banks and offices.

3 The West End of London is famous for its beautiful monuments and palaces, fine parks, fashionable shops and big hotels. The East End is quite different from the West End. It is the district of factories, plants and docks. The narrow streets and poor houses of the East End present a contrast to the homes of the rich people in the West End.

4 There are many places of interest in London. One of them is Trafalgar Square with the Nelson monument 185 feet high. Buckingham palace is the royal residence. Westminister Abbey is one of the most citizens of Britain.

5 Across the road from Westminister Abbey are the Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British goverment.

6 The Tower of London is one of the most interesting places in London. It was a fortress, a royal residence, a prison, now it is a museum.

7 London is famous for its green parks. Hyde Park is the most popular of them. It is the greatest park in London as well.

8 London is the centre of the country’s cultural life. There are many picture galleries and museums in the capital. The National Gallery houses a priceless collection of paintings. The famous British museum is one of the best museums in the world.

Types of Business Firms
1. Microeconomics studies particular firms, households, banks,
etc. Business organisations may be considered as firms or companies.
They produce goods or render services. They market and advertise
their products. They deal with government, courts, banks and insurance
companies.
2. There are three basic kinds of business firms: 1) proprietorships,
2) partnerships and 3) corporations. A proprietorship is simply a one
owner firm. The proprietorship form has several advantages, such as
simplicity of organisation, freedom to make all decisions, tax advantages,
etc. The main disadvantages are lack of experience and difficulty in
raising capital. Partnerships are firms owned jointly by two or more
persons who are co-owners of business. Advantages of the partnership
may be combined talents and skills, larger capital and tax advantages.
Disadvantages of this form are danger of disagreement, divided
authority, etc. A corporation is a firm owned by a group of people,
called shareholders. Advantages of the corporation are variety of skills,
abilities and ideas, ease of expansion. Disadvantages of this form of
