Opened in June Higgs physicists working at the Large Hadron Collider, have completed their half century search, announced the opening of the Higgs boson. This long-awaited particle gives mass to all other elementary particles, such as protons and electrons, and it was the last part of the Standard Model - the modern theory of the structure and interactions of all the known elementary particles and forces.
