Aesop, a Greek philosopher, was famous for his jokes. One day Aesop was out for a walk when he saw a man. The man was lost. The man greeted Aesop and asked him, "How long will it take me to get to the town?" "Go," said Aesop. The traveler didn't understand the reply. "I know that I have to go," he said and repeated his question, but Aesop's reply was the same. "Go," he said again very politely.
The traveller went away. "The man is mad," he decided. After the traveller had gone some
distance, Aesop shouted after him, "You'll get to the town in two hours."
The traveller came back to Aesop and asked: "Why didn't you tell me that before?" "I didn't tell you because I didn't know how fast you could walk," Aesop replied.

"Tell us about your lifestyle," Mrs Bulmer continued. "OK, then. I smoke thirty cigarettes a day and drink a bottle of whisky every day. Sometimes I also have two bottles of beer. Britain is a parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarch.Queen Elizabeth 2 is the head of state,but she has no real power.In law the queen is the head the executive branch and a part of the legislative branch but in fact her role is mostly ceremonial.She acts on the advice of her ministers.
In Britain it is Parliament that has the power. Parliament makes laws. It is made up of the House of lord and the House of Commons. The members of the House of Lords are parliament - mostly lords and people who have been made lords for life. The Lords can revise and even delay bills. They have real influence in politics. The Commons have much more real power. The members of the Commons are elected by the people. They control the executive branch and discuss most important political problems.
The largest party in the Commons forms the government and its leader De comes becomes Prime Minister. The people do not elect the Prime Minister directly. Officially Parliament appoints Prime Minister. The Prime Minister chooses the Cabinet and non-cabinet ministers. The are all collectively responsible for the government,the executive branch, and individually responsible for their departments
