The doctor is one of the long-emerged and respected professions. People always honored and valued by those who could deliver them from their pain and cure the sick. In Russian the works of doctors always occupied a special place. Very colourfully described in the stories of Anton Chekhov. In the story «Ионыч» the writer describes us a person who has lost moral values. Dr. Elders appeared in the city of S. stunning plans, with good intentions. The first time he even couldn't think to leave the hospital. But the situation is completely changed. Greed and desire to get rich forced him to forget about morality. Now he had no desire to help people. Money became the meaning of his existence. In the story «the Grasshopper» Chekhov tells us about another doctor. Many people are on Dymova great hope they think of him as a talented man. He was not interested in only one science, is more worried about the lives of the individual. Trying hard to cure their sick boy, the main character himself ill and subsequently dies. Strikes us his selfless desire to cure people. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov's something like his hero, because he himself was a doctor.
