Michael asked Bill if he could show him around a bit? Michael said that he had only come there two days before and he hadn’t been anywhere as yet.

Bill said that he would do it with pleasure and offered to go at once. He also offered to invite Alice to come with them. He added that Alice knew a lot about the places of interest there.

Michael said that that was a good idea.

Bill asked Alice if she could come with them. He also said that they were going for a walk, and he added that he wanted to show Michael some places of interest.

Alice said that she was sorry but she couldn’t go with the boys. She expained that mother had told her to do the shopping, and she had forgotten about it. She said that she would have to do it then. She invited the boys to go without her. Alice promised that she would go with them some other time.

Bill said that it was a pity (или Bill expressed his regret) and suggested to Michael that they should go.
