По-моему, предложение переводится как-то так: Изменение облика спальни было важнее для девочек, 53 % опрошенных из них имели новый облик комнаты или хотели вскоре его изменить... Не знаю как Вам, но всё же had had меня немного смущает... Просто объясните, почему это опечатка =)
